Exclusive: Lukaku wants Roma stay but Chelsea ace likely to move to Saudi

Romelu Lukaku has been included on the list of main targets that the Saudi Pro League want to acquire this summer.

The Belgian striker already refused Al Hilal’s overtures last year as, before choosing Mitrovic, the club tried to convince Lukaku to arrive thanks to a monster offer.

In the end he preferred to stay in Europe, however, according to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of the current situation, the Saudi Pro League negotiators still consider Lukaku as a priority signing.

To that end more pressure is being applied on the striker, and contacts with Chelsea that have been ongoing for some time, will continue.

Due to Lukaku’s high salary Chelsea are keen to part ways with him as soon as possible, but also with the aim of maximising his farewell.

At this stage, Al Ittihad are showing the most interest in the player and have already approached both Chelsea and Lukaku’s entourage, the latter open to hearing any new proposals.

Unlike last year the Belgian seems to be more inclined to evaluate a good project from Saudi in the summer, and Al Ittihad’s would seem to be the most concrete and serious for him.

No issues are expected on the Chelsea side and they hope that this is the right time for their player to finally move on.

AS Roma remain in the picture as Lukaku’s ideal scenario is that the Giallorossi can make one last effort for him.

A stay in Italy is unlikely at present, however, and much will depend on Tammy Abraham’s future anyway.
