It appears we are close to resolving one of the big transfer sagas of the summer, with Rafa apparently only days away from clinching a big-name player.
Liverpool will up their bid for Gareth Barry to £15m and could sign the Aston Villa midfielder as early as next week. (The Observer)

Gareth Barry was always going to have to think long and hard about leaving his beloved Aston Villa. However it does seem that he decided a week or two ago that his future was away from the midlands outfit, and now its simply a case of coming up with a fee that both parties feel is correct for the England man. Do Liverpool fans feel that Rafa should sign up Barry regardless of valuation, or do they think this is too much to pay? Do Aston Villa think that they would be better off with the money now that Gareth seems to have decided his future lies elsewhere?
