Liverpool to bid for record £32m star: If Rafa does the magic the title dream is alot nearer!

Well it seems Rafa won’t take no for an answer as he lines up a potential bid for one hell of a striker!

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has hinted he may target Valencia striker David Villa as a replacement for Portsmouth-bound Peter Crouch.
Crouch is poised to complete his summer transfer to Fratton Park after Pompey agreed a fee with Liverpool on Monday.
Spain’s Villa has reportedly attracted strong interest from several leading European clubs after he finished top scorer at Euro 2008.
The 26-year-old has since insisted he is happy at the Mestalla; however Benitez could be set to test the forward’s resolve.
Benitez, who brought fellow Spaniard Fernando Torres to Anfield from Atletico Madrid last summer, said: “We have Torres, Andrei Voronin, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and Steven Gerrard, who can play as a second striker.
“But we will try to bring in another option. Villa is a player we know all about and he is on our list. But maybe it will be difficult.” (Skysports)

£32m-rated Spaniard Villa has already proven just how well he works alongside El Nino and Rafa Benitez is clearly interested to see if he can replicate that at Anfield. Whilst scoring goals wasn’t a problem last season, any over-dependence on Torres could be problematic, especially with Crouchy being offloaded. If the Liverpool boss managed to pull off this signing, then his side would be one huge step nearer to capturing that long desired Premier League title! Do Liverpool fans think that the purchase of David Villa is a real possibility or just a pipe dream?
