Should Chelsea’s Drogba face punishment for coin throwing incident? The PFA thinks so!
by offsidetrap on November 13th, 2008Didier Drogba just got back from injury and already he’d facing the wrath of the PFA! After scoring a goal against Burnley yesterday, Drogba did something he shouldn’t have done during his goal celebration: he retaliated by throwing something into the stands. Ooops!
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba should be banned for three-matches for throwing a coin back into the Burnley fans during Wednesday night’s Carling Cup tie, according to Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) chief Gordon Taylor.
The forward was prevented from celebrating his first goal of the season when an object was thrown on to the pitch at Stamford Bridge and despite apologising for throwing it back Drogba is facing a police investigation and an FA charge. (ESPNSoccernet)
Drogba lobbed a coin in the direction of the Burnley supporters at Stamford Bridge after one of them supposedly lobbed something his way during the match. This isn’t grammar school, Didier! You can’t throw things back if you’re provoked. The PFA is now calling for Drogba to spend more time on the bench by way of a three-match ban.
What do Chelsea supporters think? Should Drogba get a match ban for the incident?

This must be the most rediculous case for a very long time - even for the english tabloid press standard.
Drogba didn’t throw the coin directly at the Burnley supporters - with a soft throw he threw it up into the air and out back to the crowd. Of course he shouldn’t have done it, but to give him a 3 match ban is just insane. If that happens, my last respect for the english FA will completely disappear. It’s not that big anyway.
I have also read that the chairman of the players’ union has gone public and stated that Drogba MUST be banned. How can he do that? Isn’t he supposed to deal in the best way for the players? A chairman for any other union, who had done the same, would surely already be history.
BUT the most rediculous of it all is that the police have gone into the case. Haven’t they got anything else to do? England must be the only country, where such a thing can happen.
Best wishes, Jan

he probably is gonna get banned, and probably should be. because you just cannot do that. it was stupid of him
but who are these lowlife scumbags who get away with throwing the coins at him in the first place? doesn`t surprise me that it is inbred burnley fans, but why has there been no fuss or action to isolate the original perpetrators?
just look at the picture of him throwing it back and look at the people in the crowd. does it not make you ashamed to me english? lowlife chav scum

He “MUST” be banned because it was the same punishment that Carragher received for the same offence. Anything less than 3 matches shows further lack of consistancey from the FA. I’d tack on another game and make it four for him being stupid enough to show the fans the middle finger

whether he meant it or not he know you shouldnt do that.See what happened to Carragher also got banned little harsh but if he gets away with it imagine what other players would do.

drogba should not get 3 match ban. it will be detrimental than unlawful for the FA to have acted in such an undeserving way. the worst of it all is d involvement of d police. or is it because of chelsea next match wit arsenal.
