Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is confident his side can get a result in their Europa League game against Anzhi Makhachkala according to Sky Sports.

The Magpies face off against the Russian side with the victors securing a place in the quarter-finals.

Pardew’s side are well placed to get a result following a 0-0 with Anzhi in Russia last week.

Newcastle are in good form having own their last three games at St. James’ Park.

‘It’s a great position for us. It’s quite simple – we need to win’, said Pardew.

‘If you’re going to go through in a tie you need to win, you don’t want to go through on away goals; you want to win a game.

‘We squeezed through last time [against Metalist Kharkiv] and we want to win this one. The agenda is in front of us, the emphasis is on us, we’ll have 42,000 Geordies in there going mad.

‘They have had experience playing against Premier League opposition this year at Liverpool. I think they lost 1-0. I think this game will be tougher for them.

‘It’s a tough agenda for us, make no mistake, but I still have a strong feeling that we can win. And our fans will on the back of three home wins. We’re going into it with good confidence.’
