Carlo Ancelotti will make the signing of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney a priority when he takes over as manager of Real Madrid this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spanish giants are yet to agree a deal with PSG to appoint the Italian, but have made him their top candidate to replace Jose Mourinho as manager, and he is already believed to be preparing an offer for Rooney.

The unsettled England striker has submitted a transfer request at Old Trafford due to being unhappy with his role in the team this season. Following the signing of Robin van Persie from Arsenal, Rooney was often used out of position in midfield or out wide, and wants a new challenge next season.

A number of top clubs have been linked with the 27-year-old, and it is understood that he would favour a move to United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea over other interested in parties.

Real Madrid will look to tempt United with a £30million bid, and the Red Devils are likely to push through a deal to sell him abroad rather than to another English club.

Other Premier League stars such as Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez could also be making their way to the Bernabeu in big-money moves this summer.
