Sevilla battler set to secure Stamford Bridge switch.
Chelsea are said to be edging Real Madrid in the race to sign highly rated French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia according to French source Le10Sport.
The 20 year old Sevilla midfielder appears to be high up on Jose Mourinho’s summer wish-list and the former Real Madrid boss hopes to see off competition from his previous employers and seemingly holds the key to capturing the French Under 20 international.
Sevilla are said to be set to bring in a second Chelsea player on a loan deal, having already secured the services of Marko Marin for next term the La Liga side will also take Oriol Romeu on a temporary basis, the Spanish midfielder perhaps being the ideal man to replace Kondogbia.
Mourinho is keen to continue his summer spending and sees Kondogbia as a preferable defensive midfield option to the likes of John Obi Mikel and the aforementioned Romeu. One does wonder what part Michael Essien will play at the West London club next season, presumably a prominent one given that the returning Chelsea boss brought the Ghanaian to Real Madrid on loan last season.
Kondogbia only moved to Sevilla last July but impressed many, making 31 appearances for the Andalusian side.
