Atletico Mineiro coach Cuca has admitted that he expects star midfielder Bernard to finally make his exit from the club this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 20-year-old starred during Brazil’s successful Confederations Cup campaign over the past two weeks and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur reported to be interested in landing his signature. However, Chelsea have also been credited with an interest as they have been rumoured to have sent scouts to see him in action recently.

Further speculation has come from Portugal in the shape of Porto, and the player himself expressed a proclivity towards joining the club after initially suggesting that he could stay in Brazil.

But his coach at Mineiro has confessed that he may have to face up to life without the star as the club will continue with their philosophy of raising world class stars and moving them on.

“Atletico Mineiro won’t be able to keep Bernard, but this is natural,” Cuca told UOL.

“We have to take advantage of having him in Libertadores and if he leaves, as it seems it will happen, it’s up to us to develop another player like him.”
