Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Norwich City striker Grant Holt according to Sky Sports.

The experienced striker did well in his first season in the top tier, netting 15 goals, but last term played a more limited role and the arrival of Ricky van Wolfswinkel has clearly led the 32 year old to believe he is unlikely to be a regular in the Canaries first team next term.

Wigan Athletic may well see Holt as a replacement for Arouna Kone, who is closing in on a move to reunite with former Latics boss Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park.

Holt is still something of a cult hero ta Carrow Road having helped the club secure promotions from League One and the Championship, scoring 78 goals for the club in the process.

Owen Coyle will hope that the Carlisle born striker can provide Wigan Athletic with the firepower they will need to secure an instant return to the Premier League.
