Manchester City are poised to complete the signing of Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic despite an eleventh hour move from rivals Manchester United, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Sky Blues look set to pay £28 million for the striker and while Fiorentina accepted the bid, Jovetic’s agent spend the day with Manchester City officials to agree personal terms.

Jovetic has quickly become City’s number one transfer target this summer following their failure to land Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who is set to move to French club Paris St Germain.

Pellegrini is desperate to land Jovetic and solve City’s striker problem.

The club currently only have two first team strikers following Carlos Tevez departure to Juventus and signing Jovetic will go someway to replacing the Argentine front-man.

Manchester United have made a late bid to sign Jovetic but City are thought to be in pole position because of their good relationship with Fiorentina.

Moyes will still hope that there is a chance that he can entice Jovetic to Old Trafford and the players agent will still speak to United before anything is agreed at City.
