Championship ready to make audacious bid for Bhoys striker.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Ambitious QPR are preparing to offer Celtic £5 million for their striker Gary Hooper according to The Daily Mail.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly keen to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer with Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson both the wrong side of 30 and Loic Remy looking certain to leave the club.

He has identified Gary Hooper as the man who can fire them back into the Premier League and is hoping to tempt the Scottish champions into agreeing a deal.

Celtic are keen to hold on to their star striker though and are expected to turn down the offer.

The club recently agreed a deal to sell Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama to Southampton for £12 million so are under no pressure to sell any other players in their squad.

Hooper was strongly linked with a move back to England during the previous January transfer window. Norwich are understood to have had a £9 million turned down for Hooper on the last day of the window but it is thought that the figure was inflated due to the time pressures on both clubs.

The Canaries are thought to have retained an interest in Hooper and are likely to be monitoring the outcome of QPR’s bid closely.
