Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has claimed that Jose Mourinho could make an astonishing return to club in three years time, Goal.com reports.

Mourinho managed Inter Milan for two years after he left Chelsea in 2007 and lead the Italian side to Champions League glory as well as back to back Serie A titles.

Moratti has revealed that Mourinho is intent on returning to Inter following a private telephone conversation between the pair.

“I called Mourinho to give him by best wishes on his return to Chelsea,” Moratti revealed to reporters.

“What did Jose say back to me? He told me that in three years we will see each other again at Inter.”

Mourinho re-joined Chelsea this summer following a three year spell at Real Madrid and his arrival at Stamford Bridge has raised optimism that the club can challenge the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

There is no such optimism at Inter however, who finished in a lowly ninth position in Serie A last season and have replaced former manager Andrea Stramaccoini with Walter Mazzarri, who left Napoli to become Inter’s manager.

The immediate target for Mazzarri will be to get Inter back in the Champions League but that will prove to be difficult with Serie A being one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.
