Victory Boss wants defender to stay

After Billy Celeski’s departure to the UAE Melbourne Victory Coach Ange Postecoglou is adamant Mark Milligan won’t be the next man out of the door at the AAMI Stadium.

The 27-year-old Socceroo has been linked with both Queen’s Park Rangers and newly promoted Crystal Palace, as well as a move to Dubai.

Postecoglou has quashed any rumours he is simply holding out for more cash, telling the Herald Sun: “We haven’t received an official offer for him and, to be honest, if we did we’re not going to let him go.

“He’s contracted for another two years, he’s a very valuable member of our football club and that’s the reason why we brought him here.

“We don’t really need the transfer money, we’re not looking to make money. Ultimately our intention is, from a football perspective, to keep him at the football club.

The defender, who also plays in midfield, played all three of the Socceroos world cup qualifiers last month ahead of Palace’s Mile Jedinak, has a great chance of making Ozieck’s final squad should he remain injury free.
