Inter Milan are set to make the signing of Southampton striker Pablo Osvaldo a priority this January, according to Football Italia.

The Italian international only joined the Saints this summer in a club-record £12.8m deal, though he has failed to impress in the Premier League and is reportedly seeking a quick return to Serie A.

Osvaldo was the top scorer at Roma last season and remains highly rated in Italy, though he has only managed one goal in six appearances so far for Southampton.

Inter are being linked with a whole host of big-name players ahead of the January transfer window following their takeover by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, and hope to bring in Osvaldo as part of a triple swoop that also includes highly-rated Genoa defender Sime Vrsaljko and Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

It is unclear if Southampton will be willing to sell the 27-year-old so quickly after signing him, though they may be tempted if the money is right and if the player remains unsettled in England.

In another potential deal involving the two clubs, Southampton are being linked with a move for Inter midfielder McDonald Mariga, whose brother Victor Wanyama, already plays at the St Mary’s Stadium.
