The 26 year old has been an ever present this season and may be tempted by a fresh challenge in view of the fact that his Hammers side are flirting around the relegation zone.

The locally born former England Under 21 international has spent his entire career at Upton Park and a move to St James’ Park may prove tempting in January, Everton are also said to be keen.

The box to box performer is strong in the tackle and is an intelligent distributor of the ball and is an experienced performer who could well add a new dimension to Alan Pardew’s midfield, and is perhaps seen as a potential replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who is constantly linked with a St James’ Park exit.

Pardew will know Noble well from his time in charge of the East London side though one imagines Sam Allardyce would fight to keep hold of the midfield battler.

Noble is into his tenth season at West Ham and has made 253 appearances and scored 31 goals for the Hammers.
