Real Madrid are ready to make a January move for Tottenham midfielder Paulinho according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Brazilian has had an up and down time of it since moving to White Hart Lane and following the departure of the manager who brought him to North London, Andre Villas-Boas, there is perhaps scope for a successful move to tempt the 25 year old into forcing a move to the Bernabeu.

Tottenham spent £17m to bring the talented midfielder in, as part of a massive £100m+ spending spree, and is unlikely to be a player Tim Sherwood would want to lose.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has a number of central midfield options in his squad with the likes of Sami Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric and Asier Illarramendi competing for spots but the Italian is apparently still looking to bring Paulinho to the Spanish capital.

Having worn down Tottenham into selling Gareth Bale over the summer the Spanish giants may be confident of repeating the trick in January.
