Blow For Arsenal As Attacking Target Told To Join Manchester City Instead

Andrlecht’s Mitrovic is a target for the Premier League duo.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in recent times, but national compatriot says he should join Manchester City instead.

Former Liverpool ace Milan Jovanovic has advised the 19-year-old that either the Etihad Stadium or a top Bundesliga club would be a better destination for the teenager.

“When I came to Standard in 2006, I was 25 and I played for Vojvodina Novi Sad, Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow. On his 25th Mitrovic plays at Manchester City or a big German club,” Jovanovic was quoted by VTM.

“You can never be one hundred percent sure, but I predicted it all in Romelu Lukaku. Mitrovic is different, but he is built for the summit.”

The young forward arrived in Belgium in the summer of 2013 from Partizan Belgrade and his hit the ground running in Belgium, having scored 10 league goals in 20 matches already.

It’s this form that has attracted the Gunners, with the north London side even considering a move for Mitrovic before the striker joined Anderlecht last year.

Despite still being so young the Serbian has three caps and a goal for the senior national team and has earned vital Champions League experience as well.

This is attractive for Arsene Wenger, who is still on the search for attacking support as Olivier Giroud is the only recognised striker who has performed consistently at the Emirates Stadium this season.

However, if City choose to enter the race with their superior finances and potential future prospects, it would be difficult for Mitrovic to turn them down.
