Blues attacker should return from injury to face the Reds at Anfield this weekend.

Manchester City front man Sergio Aguero believes that only one England player would make it into Argentina’s squad for this summer’s Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil, and that man would be Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

Ahead of the two club’s huge Premier League showdown at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, the Argentina international was asked to select one member of the Three Lions setup to play for his own country.

“England player for the Argentina squad? I’d pick Steven Gerrard!” said Aguero.

Meanwhile, the Argentinian’s compatriot, right-back Pablo Zabaleta, believes that Aguero’s timely return from injury could be the catalyst to his side going on to win the title this season.

“Sergio is fit. He’s been training well with the team for a few days now,” said the full back.

“He wasn’t 100 per cent to play against Southampton [last Saturday]. That’s why the manager decided to leave him out and let him be fully ready for the next game against Liverpool.

“Have we missed him? Yes, of course. You always you want the best players in the team and to be fit for any game at this time of the season.

“But we know we also have important players – Edin Dzeko, Yaya [Toure], who is having a great season, David Silva, Samir Nasri – we have a lot of talent in front. That’s why, even without Sergio, we keep scoring goals. We can’t just rely on him.

“It’s a good time for him to come back. I can see why people say it’s similar to Tevez returning – although it’s a different situation.

“Like with Carlos, it’s great for any team to have the best players back in the team again – particularly at this part of the season. That’s the good news for us.”
