The 28 year old Serbian international has a year to run on his current contract and Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in the former Lazio man for a cut-price fee, though one wonders if Arsenal need another left-back.

Wenger can currently call upon England man Kieran Gibbs and has Nacho Monreal as a back-up option though perhaps interest in Kolarov is with a view to him being used further up on the winger.

Man City paid £19m to land Kolarov back in 2010 and the set-piece specialist has made a total of 134 appearances for the Etihad Stadium side and this term is ranked as one of Manuel Pellegrini’s leading assist makers.

Arsenal have of course sold a number of their talents to Man City in recent seasons with the likes of Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure making just such a switch and as such perhaps the north London club are hopeful that they can secure Kolarov in a deal going in the other direction.
