Both Premier League sides have seen doubts raised over the future’s of both their goalkeepers as Joe Hart is still thought to be on the outs with Manuel Pellegrini and Hugo Lloris keen to secure Champions League football for himself next term.

And with that in mind they have been been said to have taken an interest in the Real Madrid stopper, who displaced club legend Iker Casillas midway through last season.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has fielded Lopez in the league, while Casillas has played in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, but there have been question marks over whether he can continue with the same goalkeeping policy next term.

However, despite both of the Premier League side possibly needing new cover in between the sticks, the 32-year-old has ruled out making an exit from the club during the transfer window.

Speaking after Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia on Sunday, he said: “I have a contract, I want to continue here, I want to retire at Real Madrid. I feel a lot of strength to continue. It’s a dream to stay here.”
