Though there has been talk that the left-back will be offered a one-year extension to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer, he is being tipped to make a departure from the club after losing his place midway through the season to Cesar Azpilicueta.
Liverpool has been mooted as his most likely destination, though competition has arrived in the form of Manchester City, and it now appears that Tottenham Hotspur are to challenge with a late bid as they look for somebody to replace Danny Rose.
The 33-year-old’s lack of involvement this season has seen question marks raise over his spot within the England squad for this summer’s World Cup, as both Leighton Baines of Everton and Southampton’s Luke Shaw look set to overtake him.
Cole is thought to be keen on staying in the Premier League, though, despite having several offers on the table from foreign sides, and could be interested in Spurs’ offer as it means he would be allowed to stay in London.
