QPR Lining Up Bid for Dutch Defensive Rock

Newly promoted Loftus Road side target Villa Park defender.

Check in to Netherlands vs Chile

QPR are lining up a bid for Aston Villa centre-back Ron Vlaar according to the Birmingham Mail.

Loftus Road boss Harry Redknapp is keen to strengthen his defence as they prepare for a Premier League return and may well have been impressed by the efforts of the no-nonsense Dutch international during the World Cup finals, with the 29 year old starting in both Holland’s opening wins over Spain and Australia.

Vlaar may be open to leaving an Aston Villa side that struggled for form last term and could perhaps be tempted by a move to London, especially if he is handed a big pay-rise to do so.

Aston Villa signed Vlaar in July 2012 and has been the club’s captain for the past two seasons, racking up 62 appearances for the Midlands side.

Prior to his move to England Vlaar enjoyed seven years at Feyenoord and the tough tackler has 26 national team caps to his name.
