Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will look to improve his White Hart Lane attack by making a move for AS Roma forward Mattia Destro according to the Daily Telegraph.

With both Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado proving to be very expensive flops in their first campaigns at the north London club it appears Pochettino is ready to strengthen his Spurs strike-force and a move for Italian international Destro would be a sensible option to consider.

The former Siena and Genoa man started just 14 Serie A fixtures last season but still finished the season as the Stadio Olimpico side’s top-scorer, netting 13 goals, and if he doesn’t receive guarantees of a regular role in Rudi Garcia’s starting eleven then he may just consider a summer exit.

That form led to a call-up to Italy’s provisional 30 man squad for the World Cup finals and Destro may feel that a high-profile move, as well as regular first team action, could help to secure a more prominent role at national team level.

Whilst Lamela and Soldado struggled for form Emmanuel Adebayor provided a much needed effective striking option last term and one imagines the Togo international, as well as youngster Harry Kane, will both be retained by Pochettino.
