Tottenham To Offer Two Players Plus Cash For 2014 World Cup Star

Pochettino intent on strengthening defence with Vlaar.

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a big money move for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar after the Dutchman impressed at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, reports the Daily Mirror.

Spurs’ new boss Mauricio Pochettino has laid an emphasis on improving his defence this summer and believes that the 29-year old would bring more steel to Spurs’ line-up.

Tottenham’s central defenders were criticised for being too naïve and soft last season, and a Premier League adapted player like Vlaar adding to their resources could better their backline significantly this season.

Spurs are hoping to offer the likes of Lewis Holtby and Michael Dawson along with cash for Vlaar, which could be enough to prise him out of Villa Park.

The Villans could also been keen on the offer as they are getting an experienced central defender in return and could benefit from the services of former Schalke 04 man Holtby.

However, Spurs might only want to loan out young Holtby, who is still believed to have the potential to cut it at White Hart Lane in the future.
