Chelsea are looking to sign their third Atletico Madrid player of the summer, having already spent big money on Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, while returning Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at the Spanish champions.

According to Madrid based daily MARCA, the Blues have submitted a €25m offer for Brazilian central defender Miranda, and are confident of securing their man.

Manchester United and Barcelona have also been linked with the 29-year-old, who has a €30m release clause, but MARCA reckon a departure is very much a possibility.

Chelsea are keen to sign another centre-back, having sold David Luiz to PSG for £40m (potentially rising to £50m) already this summer. They only have two senior defenders in John Terry and Gary Cahill, with Tomas Kalas being sent out on loan, and Kurt Zouma rated as two raw to have an immediate impact.

Miranda has been superb for Atletico in recent seasons, and last term there was arguably no better centre-back in Spain, with his side clinching the title on the final day of term.

He’s strong, organised, and disciplined, and would represent another excellent piece of Chelsea summer business.
