The 21 year old England international signed for the Old Trafford side in January 2013, before returning to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the 2012/13 seasons, but managed just two sub appearances in the Premier League before former boss David Moyes sent him on loan to Cardiff City.

It appears Louis van Gaal deems the youngster as surplus to requirements and will accept a fee as low as £7m for his services, with a host of sides seemingly ready to make just such an offer.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew leads the chase to bring in Zaha, who may well feel the time is right to move on.

His former Selhurst Park employers are also interested whilst Nottingham Forest are ready to make a loan move for the Man United bit-part player.

The Magpies have already done some good business in the summer transfer window with Pardew securing the signings of Dutch pair Daryl Janmaat and Siem de Jong as well as French playmaker Remy Cabella and AS Monaco ace Emmanuel Rivière as well as Nottingham Forest youngsters Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles plus Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback.
