French international Giroud faces three months out after fracturing his foot during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Everton and this leaves Wenger frantically looking to bring in a striker before the transfer deadline next Monday.

The alternative is that Wenger is left to keep faith in youngsters Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell to help offer new signing Alexis Sanchez support in the final third.

The three strikers in question include the following.

Edinson Cavani (PSG)

By some distance the most expensive option of the three with this source claiming that the north London side would have to invest upwards of £40m to land the Uruguayan.

A move to bring in the 27 year old is further hampered by the fact that Laurent Blanc’s leading striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is suffering with a niggling abdominal injury.

Cavani netted 25 goals in his debut season at the Parc des Princes with the powerful marksman scoring 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli prior to his move to the French capital.
