Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has conceded that unsettled striker Fernando Torres may be keen to securing a move away from the club to take on a new challenge and a change of scene.
The Blues boss was speaking at his Friday press conference, with London-based journalist Miguel Delaney tweeting his quotes and expressing some insight into the club’s transfer plans in the next couple of days.
With Torres being strongly linked with a move to AC Milan, it looks as though Mourinho is ready to offload the player if he is unhappy with his current situation as third choice striker for Chelsea, but only if another player can be brought in before the deadline to ensure the club have enough depth in the centre-forward role.
Mourinho on Torres: “What we have clear as a club is we need three strikers to face season. He’s one. I like him as a person and player.”

(Any time Mourinho is about to sell a player he often comes out with that “I like him as a person” line – a lot of qualifiers.)

Mourinho on Torres: “If he wants to leave, I believe it’s because he wants to try a new life, possibly a new league.”

Chelsea have been linked with the likes of AS Roma striker Mattia Destro and AS Monaco front-man Radamel Falcao in recent times and both look like strong potential additions upfront for the club.
