United will have to pay mega money for Serie A star.Manchester United target Kevin Strootman is now valued at a staggering £60m by his club AS Roma, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for the Dutch international, who has become regarded as one of the finest midfield playmakers in Europe in recent times.
However, United will surely question whether he is worth £60m, when it had previously been reported that a fee of around £46m would be enough to sign him this January.
United have spent heavily under new manager Louis van Gaal, taking a ‘Galactico’ approach to the transfer market under the Dutchman, bringing in big names such as Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao and several others.
Still, this latest deal would see them break their transfer record for the third time in the space of a year, and it may be worth the club considering other targets who would surely be available for a great deal cheaper.
Strootman himself is believed to be keen on a move to Old Trafford to further his career, and he will now have to hope that Roma’s whopping asking price does not put United off.
