Jose Mourinho’s side have got off to a flyer this season, opening up a five point lead at the top of the Premier League after this weekend’s win over Arsenal, and have done so largely without the use of former Benfica man Ramires.

Mourinho has made a habit of cashing in on players he hasn’t deemed as crucial to his plans and may therefore be open to decent offers for the 27 year old.

Chelsea have banked more than £100m from the sales of David Luiz, Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku alone, money that has been handily used to bring in the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa and one wonders if Ramires himself would be considering his options.

Having been a virtual ever present in his first four seasons at the west London club, making 195 appearances before the current camapain got under way, Ramires has started just two of Chelsea’s first seven Premier League fixtures with Serbian battler Nemanja Matic getting the nod for a central midfield berth.

Ancelotti signed Ramires during his time in charge of Chelsea and with Real Madrid likely to see Sami Khedira leave the Italian manager wants to conduct a raid on his former club to beef up a midfield that also saw Xabi Alonso exit for Bayern Munich over the summer.
