Rumours that former Barcelona man Victor Valdes has refused a trial at Liverpool are false according to his agent…

Victor Valdes’ agent has denied claims that the former Barcelona shot-stopper has rejected a trial with Liverpool ahead of a proposed move, reports ESPN.

The Spaniard is currently without a club and consequently is available on a free transfer. He decided to leave Barcelona in the summer, but due to an injury he suffered back in March he has been unable to play any competitive football since then.

It was reported that the 32-year-old had been offered a four day trial with Liverpool which he declined, but his agent Gines Carvajal has denied that this is the case.

“Liverpool didn’t ask us to train for four days. We haven’t rejected it because it [the story] is false,” he said.

“Neither Brendan Rodgers nor Liverpool have ever made us this proposal, at any time.”

Valdes made 387 appearances for Barcelona during his 12 senior years with the club, and this after he came through the youth ranks with the Catalan giants.

He has stated that he wants to experience football outside of Spain before he retires, so a move to the Premier League could definitely still be on the cards.

Liverpool fans want a replacement for current first-choice Simon Mignolet, and a move for the three-time Champions League winner would be congratulated at Anfield.
