The Etihad Stadium manager is known to rate the 31 year old and made a £25m bid for his services over the summer, which was turned down.

However the La Liga side are now reportedly ready to accept as little as £6m for the Portuguese international as he has just 18 months to run on his current contract.

New Man City signing Eliaqium Mangala has had a mixed start to his career at the Premier League champions whilst clearly at 34 Martin Demichelis is nearing the end of his career and the jury is still very much out on young Serb Matija Nastasic.
