The Brazilian said last month that he would like to move to the Premier League when his contract expires at the end of the season and his comments have sparked the interest of several English clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, his agent recently said that Alves would like to remain at the Nou Camp and is desperate to sign a new deal with the Catalan club.

Zubizarreta says the club are working hard to agree a new deal with the 31-year-old although there is no positive news on that front yet.

“We’ve done nothing in that respect,” he told AS. “We’re talking about the contract with him. We’ll see what the road is we’ll take. It’s also influenced by the decision of Fifa [the transfer ban].

“The best thing is that we come to see an incisive Dani, that’s important.”

Zubizarreta was also adamant that Barca haven’t received any offers for winger Pedro, who has also been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

“There’s nothing in my office and we’ve not put him on the market,” he said.
