Stamford Bridge side chase Benfica starlet.
Chelsea are reportedly planning a January move for in-form Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes according to talkSPORT.
The 21 year old is currently on loan at Valencia from Benfica and has impressed at the Mestalla and is now said to be a target for a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’.
Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to monitor Gomes this season and will look to land the exciting talent though Man United are also said to be interested while Benfica could well elect to keep hold of their player, who is a product of the Lisbon side’s own academy system.
Gomes may well need to consider his chances of securing regular football at Chelsea before rushing to accept any offer from the Premier League table toppers.
Mourinho has an expansive squad with world class replacements for most positions and as such a fair few talents are left biding their time warming the bench or out on loan and therefore Gomes may be wise to elect to remain at Valencia for the remainder of the season before perhaps looking to pushing his way back into the Benfica set-up.
