Despite spending £150m on new additions over the summer it’s fair to say that Louis van Gaal’s side have struggled for form and it appears the Old Trafford side’s board are ready to hand further funds to help secure a coveted top four finish.

By all accounts 21 year old German international Draxler is very close to agreeing a deal to move to Man United, with the midfielder being able to offer some much needed guile in the centre of the park, providing clever distribution and a real threat in the final third.

Draxler is rightly considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and despite his tender years the youngster has already managed to accrue 157 appearances for Schalke and has 15 national team caps to his name.

Man United are also looking to bring in versatile Schalke skipper Howedes, who will cost the Premier League side £14m, who can fill left-back and central defensive roles.

Schalke have started the season in average fashion, Roberto di Matteo’s side currently sitting in seventh spot in the Bundesliga table, and as such may struggle to fend off interest from a behemoth like Man United.
