Five players have been rested for England’s latest training session, with fitness concerns over the Premier League quintet ahead of their game on Saturday.

Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, Tottenham’s Andros Townsend, and Everton pair Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka all missed out; although are expected to be available if needed.

A number of other stars including Arsenal trio Danny Welbeck, Calum Chambers, and Jack Wilshere were on a modified training regime after playing domestically on Sunday; all involved are again expected to be fit come Saturday.

Arsenal in particular will be extremely worried, as the London club already have a host of injury problems.

England manager Roy Hodgson will be looking to ensure all three points are taken against Slovenia this weekend, but he should be able to rest a number of players for their friendly the following Tuesday against Scotland.
