The 25-year-old has apparently found it hard to settle in Manchester since his move from Athletic Bilbao, while the Swiss has been on Louis van Gaal’s radar for a while now.
However, this rumour might not be all it seems. It seems to have originated from a German journalist suggesting that the Spaniard would be a perfect fit at the Bundesliga champions, and that Shaqiri would be a good makeweight in any deal.
He mentions that the Red Devils’ man is valued much more highly than his Bayern Munich counterpart, and as such some money would need to go to Old Trafford alongside the exchange. Around £6 million is apparently the figure that would fit.
The German club have been linked to a number of midfielders before the January transfer window, including Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira along with Lars Bender and Christoph Kramer.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are up against Arsenal on the weekend in a game which if they win they will overtake their top four rivals.
