Flawed MLS Website Revealing Transfers Before They Are Official

The MLS website has a major flaw that enables users to check on the validity of ‘done deals’.

The URL for MLS players’ bios is the same across all MLS team sites – for example – lagalaxy.com/players/joe-bloggs.

Something different happens when you look up players who are rumoured to have recently been signed by another club, however. Instead, of the bio, you get a page that reads “Access denied: You are not authorized to access this page.”

It suggests that players who have already signed with another club have new profiles that have not yet gone live.

Bloggers and fans have used this flaw in the past to check the accuracy of rumoured signings and trades, and it’s now apparent that the same flaw appears across all MLS team websites.
