Ashley Young has backed Manchester United teammate Angel di Maria to shine during the second-half of the season, claiming that he’s a better player than Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

The Argentine international scored 11 goals and provided 26 assists last season, helping guide Madrid to the Champions League title, while his performances convinced United to part with a club record £59.7m during the summer transfer window.
Ronaldo and Bale scored 73 goals in 91 appearances last season, but Young insists that United have taken the best of the trio for their team.
Young, who was quoted by the Daily Express, said: “Angel was a fantastic signing. Real Madrid have other top players in their team, like Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, but he was the one who stood out for me in that team last season.
“When you add quality to a squad that already has quality it can only help us. We saw in the first couple of days in training just how good a player Angel is and what we can expect from him. He was definitely a great signing for us.”
