The Saints coach even snapped to reporters: “You’re the agent of Lovren and Lallana” after seemingly becoming tired at continuous questions about the former-Southampton trio who left the club for Anfield in the summer.

All three exited before the arrival of the Dutch coach for a reported £49 million in the summer, at a period when Southampton sold a number of their first team stars.

The south-coast team have, however, gone on to unexpectedly challenge for the Champions League places this season regardless of their transfer activity in the summer and Koeman says he is not interested in how the players will be received on their return to their former club.

“Ask me about Southampton,” said Koeman in his pre-liverpool press conference, reports Metro. “You’re the agent of Lovren and Lallana? Why that kind of questions all the time?’

“It’s not my question,” said Koeman over what kind of reaction the players would get at St. Mary’s. “My question is to prepare the team for the Sunday game.”

“I don’t talk about players who are coming back to the club where they played last season, because then I can talk every week about a player who comes back to Southampton.

“Lallana is a very good player, doing well in Liverpool. He chose to change the club after a good opportunity and nothing else.

“It is Southampton against Liverpool, not Southampton against some players who played last season for Southampton.”
