Arsenal legend tips Gunners to make history and knock out AS Monaco

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has backed his old club to make Champions League history and overturn a 3-1 deficit to qualify into the quarter-finals this week.

The Gunners trail AS Monaco 3-1 after a shock home defeat in the first leg, but Petit thinks if they score early in the away game they can put doubt into the Monaco players’ minds and cause an upset of their own.

“The players owe it to themselves to take revenge. In the first leg, they were below-par in everything,” Petit is quoted in the Daily Express.

“They were unworthy of Arsenal’s class. They also owe it to the supporters to avenge that defeat.

“Motivation will be easy to find. There is a feat to be achieved, like PSG against Chelsea. Arsenal can make history by qualifying.”
