Lyon vs Nice Ligue 1 preview: Would-be champions face Aiglons in dissaray

Olympique Lyonnais should return to the top of the Ligue 1 table with victory over OGC Nice at the Stade de Gerland on Saturday afternoon.

When: 3.00 pm GMT, 21 March 2015

Where: Stade de Gerland, Lyon

Having seen reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain reclaim top spot in the Ligue 1 table with victory over FC Lorient on Friday evening, the pressure is on Olympique Lyonnais to leapfrog their rivals with a win on Saturday.

Fortunately for Hubert Fournier and his team, they face a Nice side in disarray both on and off the pitch.

Les Aiglons haven’t won in seven matches and find themselves worrying close to the relegation zone. Only one other side in the division, bottom club Metz, haven’t tasted victory in their last six matches and the poor run led to Le Gym sitting in 16th place at the beginning of the weekend, only five off the dropzone.

Lyon, by contrast, are flying high and avoided a potential banana skin with an ultimately fortuitous point at rivals Olympique de Marseille last Sunday. They will be without striker Alex Lacazette but will likely welcome Yoann Gourcuff back to the starting XI.
