The former Sunderland man is apparently one of a handful of players who would help the Citizens fulfill their homegrown player quota which they are targeting over a summer move.

Henderson is yet to sign a new contract at Anfield and Manchester City, who have a £200 million summer war chest could pounce.

The midfielder has been one of his side’s most impressive performers in recent months and as such Brendan Rodgers is unsurprisingly keen to nail him down to a long-term deal.

Henderson has been a shoe-in for the Liverpool starting eleven this season, featuring in 35 games, scoring six goals and assisting seven.

With Gerrard leaving in summer the possibility of Henderson leaving will be doubly hard for Liverpool to deal with.
