The Blues went ahead after 39 minutes when Eden Hazard converted from the penalty spot, but the Potters were on level terms a minute before the interval thanks to a spectacular long range effort from Charlie Adam.

But the home side came back out for the second half the hungrier of the two side and restored the lead just after the hour mark as Hazard squared for Loic Remy to net the winner.

Check out our player ratings:

GK) Thibaut Courtois (6)

Beaten by a world class strike from Charlie Adam that he could do nothing about, otherwise had nothing to do.

RB) Branislav Ivanovic (6)

Solid as usual, came close to scoring but was denied by Asmir Begovic.

CB) Gary Cahill (6)

Couple of timely blocks in the first half.

CB) John Terry (6)

Coped reasonably well with the Stoke City attacks.

LB) Cesar Azpilicueta (6)

Chelsea’s Mr consistent as he rarely puts a foot wrong.
