Nice vs. Evian Ligue 1 preview: Can Puel’s side build on Lyon triumph?

OGC Nice welcome Evian Thonon Gaillard to the Allianz Riviera as they look to build on their recent shock victory over Olympique Lyonnais.

When: 7.00 pm GMT, 4 April 2015

Where: Allianz Riviera, Nice

Claude Puel’s side secured the result of the weekend against erstwhile table-toppers Lyon in Gameweek 30 to ease their relegation worries.

Coming off the back of a home defeat to En Avant de Guingamp, little was expected of Le Gym, but they surprised Lyon by first taking the lead at the Stade Gerland before going on to secure the victory through a late Valentin Eysseric penalty.

The result has putted the Southerners clear of the Ligue 1 relegation zone, but it remains tight at the bottom.

With eight games to play, Nice sit in 12th place, five clear of Toulouse in 18th.

This weekend they face Evian, a side in even greater relegation peril.

L’ETG are in 16th, only three points off relegation. Pascal Dupraz’s side are more than capable of beating their fellow strugglers—they won three on the bounce earlier in the year—but consistency has been a problem—they then went on to lose two consecutive matches.

A victory over Montpellier Herault Sport Club in Gameweek 30 will have given them the belief that they can escape the drop.
