Former Chelsea star claims Eden Hazard unbalances side

Eden Hazard was instrumental in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Stoke City at the weekend, and former Blues defender Mario Melchiot believes the squad need another player with the same attacking qualities as the Belgian international.

Hazard opened the scoring against the Potters at Stamford Bridge from the penalty spot, which was his 17th of the season, he then set up Loic Remy to score the winner in the second half.

And while Melchiot is a huge admirer of the Chelsea number 10, he feels the team rely on the 24-year-old too much and would like to see a right winger with the same attributes added to the side:

Going forward it’s all about Hazard.” he told the Daily Star.

“That’s why sometimes they miss a little bit of balance because they also need someone on the right who can create as much difficulty and problems for the opposition as Hazard does on the left.”

“I am a big fan of Hazard.”

“Whenever I watch Chelsea play I always feel when he gets on the ball they really start clicking.” he added.

The Belgian will be hoping to continue his good form for the Blues over the next month as they visit Queens Park Rangers on Sunday in a West London derby at Loftus Road, before back-to-back games against Manchester United and Arsenal.

The league leaders require five wins and a point from their remaining seven games to be crowned champions of England for the first time since 2010.
