The goal comes after the Belgian, who was fouled to win the spot-kick, converted from the rebound after he saw his penalty saved by Julian Speroni, but Hazard was the first to react and scored his 14th league goal of the season.

It is quite harsh on the Eagles who have competed well in the first 45 minutes and could have had a penalty of their own when John Terry appeared to block a Jason Puncheon effort with his hand.

The Blues have been in excellent form since the 5-3 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at the start of 2015 and have not lost a league game since that day and are set to become the Premier League’s most dominant champions in the competition’s history.

Next up for Jose Mourinho’s side is another home game against Liverpool next weekend as they look to see out the rest of the season without losing a single league game at Stamford Bridge this season.
