Manchester United are hoping to beat the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea to a top class signing this summer as they reportedly close in on a deal for Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.

The Red Devils have already signed Memphis Depay from PSV and Louis van Gaal seems determined to get much of his work done early this summer, with the club stepping up their efforts to land the talented Argentine.
Gaitan has long impressed as one of the best players in the Portuguese top flight, and may now be ready to test himself in a stronger league at the end of this season.
Although Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with the 27-year-old, but United look in pole position to win the race for his signature, according to the Daily Express.
With rumours elsewhere that Angel Di Maria could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, it may be that Gaitan could be being targeted to replace his fellow countryman.
