Arsenal transfer news: Club admit £28m striker uncertainty, he doesn’t want Liverpool move

Big Arsenal transfer news as striker move gains momentum.

Arsenal may have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer after his manager admitted he could be leaving, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The French international scored 31 goals last season to impress the likes of Arsene Wenger, whose side could do with more quality up front after Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck couldn’t match that number between them in 2014/15.

With wide-forward Alexis Sanchez finishing as the Gunners’ top scorer with 25 goals in all competitions, it seems clear that a new striker should be a priority for the club, especially as they now have the goalkeeping situation sorted following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

If the Telegraph’s report is anything to go by, Arsenal could be favourites for Lacazette this summer as he wants to join a Champions League club, which will be a blow for Liverpool, who were reported to be other big contenders to sign the 24-year-old in an article in the Independent this week.

“He is still under contract and the club is the decision maker. At no time have I felt a request to leave from him,” manager Hubert Fournier said.

“Things can still change. It is early July. The sooner it is resolved, the better it will be for everyone.”
