Arsenal target Joao Moutinho has been told he can leave AS Monaco this summer, reports the Metro.

The principality-based side are looking to cut their wage budget, and the 28-year-old’s £110,000-a-week contract is currently weighing them down. As such they are looking to get rid of the man who cost them £18 million when they bought him from Porto back in 2013.

However, the Gunners won’t have it easy if they want to bring the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium. Porto are interested in taking their former player back, and Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg are also interested in his signature.

Arsene Wenger may be on the lookout for a player to feature alongside Francis Coquelin in the middle of the park after missing out on Morgan Schneiderlin to fierce rivals Manchester United. Moutinho could certainly bring some creativity to match the Frenchman’s steel, perhaps making them well suited to featuring alongside each other.
